Learn a Little About Beautiful Hawaii
Hawaii is the only state in the nation that grows coffee. The state produces approximately 9 million pounds of coffee each year. The acreage on those farms is equal to about 8,000 acres, split up between almost 900 farms.
Most of the farms are located on the island of Kauai. Caffeine is one of the most addictive substances in the world so the state brings in good revenues each year off of coffee sales and tax.
The state generally sees revenues around $30 million annually, however, 2013 did not see that much as there has been great issues with the coffee berry borer beetle. The state has allocated $330,000 to control damages cause by the beetles.
