In Pennsylvania they say “Memories Last A Lifetime” The 2nd state was admitted to the union on December 12, 1787. The capital city is Harrisburg. The state bird is the Ruffed Grouse and the state flower is the Mountain Laurel.
The state was named after Admiral William Penn who was the father of William Penn, who founded the state.
Agricultural interests including dairy products, hogs, hay, mushrooms, nursery stock and poultry/cattle dominate the economy. Industries include food processing, electric equipment, chemical products and tourism.
Pennsylvania’s gross state product was $570-billion (2010) which ranked the state at 6th in the nation and 18th in the world if Pennsylvania was an independent country.
